Illness Policies

In light of the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic, I am maintaining a no symptom policy, including but not limited to:

  • Temperature over 100 degrees F
  • Cough
  • Runny/stuffy nose
  • Vomiting/diarrhea
  • Extreme fussiness/Inability to participate in normal day to day activities
  • At drop-off, I will verify with you that your child has no symptoms and I will take your child’s temperature. If they are found to have a temperature higher than 100 degrees via temporal thermometer, I will verify it with an under-the-arm thermometer and if it’s still over 100 degrees, you will not be allowed to leave the child in my care for that day.
  • If during the course of the day, your child develops ANY of the above symptoms, I will call you and I will require you to come to get the child from my care immediately. I ask that you be prompt in picking up your child if this becomes necessary in order to reduce the exposure to myself, my staff, and other children.
  • If your child is picked up early due to illness, they need to remain home for the next day as well and remain symptom-free for 24 hours without medication before returning.
  • I am also following my own illness policies and therefore I will cancel childcare if myself or my husband are experiencing any of the above symptoms as well. I will attempt to contact you as soon as I am able but it is your responsibility to have backup care for your child(ren).

****THE CHILDCARE CONTRACT WILL BE IMMEDIATELY TERMINATED IF THE PARENT GIVES AN ILL CHILD A LARGE DOSE OF SUPPRESSANT TO MASK A FEVER OR ILLNESS OR IS DISHONEST WITH ME ABOUT WHETHER OR NOT THE CHILD HAS ANY SYMPTOMS OF ILLNESS. PLEASE COMMUNICATE THIS TO ALL IT PERTAINS TO, SUCH AS GRANDPARENTS OR OTHER PEOPLE CARING FOR YOUR CHILD****

Medical Policies

  • If your child needs medicine on a regular or a one-time basis, please inform me and I will provide you with a permission form to fill out with the child’s name, dosage information, and permission for me to administer the medications to your child.
  • If your child has allergies or asthma, I need them written down with an action plan as to what to do in case of an allergy or asthma attack and you must provide me with any inhalers or EpiPens before you leave your child with me. I will not accept your child with these conditions if they do not have their medication with them so please remember to bring them to avoid any inconvenience.
  • I do not discriminate against children with disabilities but like any child, we will have to see how well they fit in with the other kids in my care. I will require that we have a sit-down conversation about your child’s disabilities before they are left in my care so that I know how to care for them properly.

Accident/Injury Policies:

  • I understand that safety is the number one priority of parents leaving their children in the care of other people so I have the following policies put in place for the prevention and handling of accidents and injuries:
  • Prevention: Baby-proofing the house in all of the appropriate ways including outlet covers, drawer and door locks, baby gates, the padding on the floors, etc.
  • Minor injury: (scratch/bruise) I will provide the first aid necessary and then send you a picture of the injury with a full explanation of how the incident occurred.
  • Moderate injuries: For a bump on the head or anything that will leave a mark more than a day or two, I will write out a full incident report for you to sign and copy for my records.
  • Serious Injuries: For any injury/illness requiring emergency care, I will call you as immediately as possible after taking care of the situation at hand and if I am unable to get ahold of you, I will go down the line of emergency contacts until I am able to reach someone. I will also write out a full incident report for you to sign and copy for my records.
  • Please understand that while I have all of these policies in place, minor injuries are very common among children as they are learning and growing, and taking risks. While I do everything within my capabilities to prevent and manage injuries in the children in my care, children are going to run, jump, fall, bump into each other and miscalculate distances and I can’t prevent all injuries.
